About Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings-a daring professional American football team located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At present they are members of the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). At first the owners of the team wanted the Minnesota Vikings in the American Football League, but they drew back from the AFL and decided to join the NFL in1961 as an expansion team. The Vikings stood victorious in their division 16 times. They were also the first team to appear in four Super Bowls, though unfortunately the club was also the first one to lose four Super Bowls. Zygi Wilf, Mark Wilf, Jeffrey Wilf, Leonard Wilf, David Mandelbaum, Alan Landis and Reggie Fowler owns the team. In the Twin Cities.

The pro football history started in August 1959, when three Minneapolis businessmen Bill Boyer, H. P. Skoglund and Max Winter won a franchise in the new American Football League. In January, 1960 almost five months later, the owners including Bernie Ridder first gave up its AFL membership and after that they were awarded the National Football League's 14th franchise. That started playing in 1961. The Vikings started off by losing their first two games to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (24-13) and the Cincinnati Bengals (37-8). They would win in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints (33-16), but then they would go on to lose their next two road games to the Atlanta Falcons (30-10) and their division rival Chicago Bears (28-3). The Vikings would win at home against fellow division rival Green Bay Packers 23-20 by winning the same way the Packers did last season, which was a last second field goal. However, the Vikes had little to celebrate when in the next week, not only did they lose to the Carolina Panthers 38-13 on the road, but they would also lose their star QB Daunte Culpepper for the season with a knee injury, who had thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns up until that point. At this point the Vikings were 2-5. Culpepper's place taken by Brad Johnson and since then its like he took over, he guided the Vikings to a six-game winning streak, plus victories against the Detroit Lions at home (27-14), the New York Giants (24-21), the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field (20-17 in addition on a last second field goal), the Cleveland Browns (24-12), the Detroit Lions at Ford Field (21-16), and a 27-13 home victory against the St. Louis Rams. Johnson fantastically ended up with the lowest interception to attempt ratio in the history of Vikings and also the 3rd best passer rating in the NFC. The splash finished with an 18-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, ultimately Super Bowl champions. The Vikings became the first football organization to hire a new head coach named Brad Childress. Childress was known to hold offensive coordinator position for Philadelphia Eagles for the period of 2002-2005.

The Vikings utilized their first pick on Iowa LB Chad Greenway in the year of 2006. Later on they used their next pick on Texas CB Cedric Griffin. Whereas the remaining picks on New Mexico Center Ryan Cook, Alabama St. QB Tarvaris Jackson, Purdue DE Ray Edwards, and Georgia Safety Greg Blue. Since team's first public appearance that was in 1961 to 1995, the Vikings' logos and uniforms fundamentally remained the same. The two main logos of the team include a blond Norseman and a white Viking horn. In addition the helmets color is purple along a Viking horn logo on each side. The uniform is white pants. Gold trim and the jersey could be either white or purple. They possess a unique design of entirely different stripe design pattern that is over the shoulders. Whereas on purple jersey the design is on the sleeve cuffs. Minor changes occur over the years as in 1980 the color of the facemask was changed from grey to white. In 1985 it was further changed in to purple. Noreman logo was added to the sleeves in 1996. The white stripes on the shoulders appeared in 1969 for the first time when they went to their first bowl. For the period of 3 years that is from 1961 to 1964 the team was dressed in purple pants along with white jerseys. However in 2006 teams uniform was redesigned that is supposed to be one of the most major changes in 46 years history of franchise. Nevertheless the team colors remained the same. The added features were the trim lines to the outside of shoulders as well as sleeves plus the side of the jerseys and pants. Moreover the horn on the horn was shaped into a more designed pattern. And new white and purple pants are also included.
